NEHU Shillong Announces Walk-in Interview for Field Investigators under ICSSR Sponsored Project

 The Department of Sociology, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, has announced an exciting opportunity for qualified candidates to work as Field Investigators in an ICSSR-sponsored Minor Project (2024–25). The project is titled “Vulnerabilities and Strengths: A Study of Sex Workers in Meghalaya” and will be led by Dr. Rashi Bhargava, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, NEHU.

This temporary position offers candidates a chance to contribute to meaningful research that explores important social issues in Meghalaya while gaining valuable fieldwork experience.

📌 Details of the Post

Position: Field Investigator (Full Time)

Number of Vacancies: Two (2)

Salary: ₹20,000 per month (Fixed)

Duration: 1.5 Months

Location: Meghalaya

🎓 Essential Qualifications

For 1st Position:

Postgraduate degree in Social Science discipline with at least 55% marks.

Proficiency in Khasi and English (written and spoken).


For 2nd Position:

Postgraduate degree in Social Science discipline with at least 55% marks.

Proficiency in Garo and English (written and spoken).

Desirable Skills

Domicile of Meghalaya.

Prior field and qualitative research experience with proper documentation.

Working knowledge of IT applications such as MS Office and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).

Willingness to work in remote settings in Meghalaya.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

Travel to different locations in Meghalaya for fieldwork.

Collect data using interviews, case studies, and focus group discussions (FGDs).

Assist in transcription of interviews, FGDs, and case study recordings.

Follow strict ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality of research data.
